OEM alarm for 09' 323i?
Hi, Guys
I bought a 09 323i and it does not come with alarm, I called the dealer and they charge around 900 for installation and parts, I wonder where I can buy parts online in Canada to save a few bucks? and where is the best place to install it, I am in Vancouver,Thanks |

1. Buy from U.S. online dealer.
2. Ship to U.S. location 3. Drive across border to pick up 4. Install yourself 5. Get dealer to program I think you'll save yourself a huge bundle if you can do 1 to 4 yourself...

I thought the LCI does not come pre-wired for alarm anymore?

It depends on the date it was built - the cut over was sometime in the MY2009 cycle.
If you remove the rear dome light you should have an extra plug that has no connection attached to it if so then you are pre-wired. |

I'm in the same situation.
Mine is not pre-wired as I asked the dealer to check via my VIN #. It sucks, it looks like aftermarket is the only way to get about it. I was looking at the remotekey+ which looks like a super sweet set up. BUT look at the DIY, all the T-taps I saw just scared the crap out of me. Not to mention gave me the biggest WTF since it should be illegal to have them like that. |

Maybe it's just me but I seem to see alot of posts where people want to add the factory alarm. Just curious as to why you didn't get it added with the build?
It makes sense if you bought it off the lot or CPO tho. |

But for other people, perhaps it is because they didn't realize that BMWs only come standard with a steering wheel? ![]() |

Actually, not necessarily aftermarket.
BMW now makes a retrofit kit for MY2009+ vehicles that did not come pre-wired. Installation instructions attached. I am trying to get a quote out of my dealer right for pricing in Canada (parts and parts + installation). You may want to touch base with your dealer. |

Tell me how that goes. I wouldn't mind getting one but it would really depend on the price. Anything more than 800 would be ridiculous! |

Or for a couple hundred more (still a $400 savings) take the alarm to a US dealership and get them to install it for the piece of mind.

Holy crap. I just looked at the bulletin and it looks like a LOT of work. And for some reason, they want you to get a new headliner - why the hell would this be necessary?

To show that you have an alarm as a deterrent. And 800 after taxes is kind of crazy.... Not that bad though. |

I wouldn't mind having the clown nose. Don't care for the alarm - nobody pays attention to 'em anyway. As for the lock chirp (which I find very useful because I keep forgetting if I locked my doors), all I'd have to do is install an EAS RemoteKey.
