Cayman pricing

hi Guys,

Given the recent news of a price drop in cayman pricing, it seems better value for money.

I was wondering if anyone has/knows anyone whos bought one recently and what is the bargaining experience like? or is there no bargaining at all?

Also if anyone can recommend a oz porsche forum (if it exists!) that would be great as well

Thanks for any help

yea but never ventured into porsche land so have no idea about realistic pricing, whats it like dealing with porsche sales (read stories and sounds very off putting~!).... just uncharted waters and feels uncomfortable if you know what i mean...

wonder why the price come down so much, its not just the tariff.....

Hi Scheps! I am just wondering what price cuts are available, looking at the latest wheels issue a PDK Cayman costs $162K. What price were you given? I take it you had enough of waiting for a deal on C63 haha... I am still hunting for one. Worst case ill probably opt brand new or demo when it hits the dealer nearby. Been waiting to get one since november last year.

In the past I understand that Porsche have always resisted negotiating price reductions...period. However, I also understand post GFC they are now prepared to move a little. They appear to have passed on the recent tariff reduction of 5% but the strength of the Aussie dollar against the EURO should also help your negotiations. Good luck.

By the way, as a Boxster owner I have been unable to find a Aussie Porsche forum although the following are excellent OS fora:

- www.boxa.net (UK)
- www.renntech.org (US)

The tariff cuts have dropped the Caymans list price by 10k across the board.

A Cayman with optional LSD will be all the sports car you'll ever need, mid-engined joy to drive, handles like a dream and is a massive step up from anything BMW has to offer present day. Go drive one, you'll love it.

Regarding pricing, my local dealer is more than willing to bargain, actually they were more willing than BMW to bargain for that matter. If it's floorstock you can negotiate upto 15-20% off it your on your game and get them on a good day. If your ordering something in, your probably going to max out closer to the 10% mark.

sorry, hvaent been near internet for a while

@ Chris G: Yea well the C63 price aint gonna drop, couldnt get a better deal than 150k from 161k. They said we are not passing on the 5% tariff drop but instead we are going to keep the price the same, and absorb the increase. That just shits me so going elsewhere.

Normal Cayman with PDK comes to around 137 IIRC with ~10K options. I need to clarify coz i got the numbers at home. Basically the driveaway is about 11k and base price is ?? 114k now i think. Double check that. I could be out by 1-2k there.

@ systech: thanks m8 for those forums. couldnt tell you got a boxster by your sig ;P

@BMW //MPOWER: Yea the Tariff drop would have accounted for about 4.5k of that price drop and the rest was porsche realising they are up for stiff competition with the new Z and TTRS coming out. I think i need to pay your local dealer a visit I am actually serious. when abouts last year are you referring to (neg 10-20% off)

You have PM.

Re: TTRS i read the details on that the other day & it's a monster! It's faster than an F360 & the cheapest Porsche model that can beat it is the 911 Turbo! Plus at a drive away price in the $140's it's a relative bargain, given you need a supercar to beat it.
0-100km/h 4.6s
0-200km/h 11.3s
At that rate, stock as a rock it'd be running high 11's on the qtr mile!

I'll just add, that i misread the 0-200km/h figure, it's 11.3s further, so 15.9s in total for the 0-200km/h.

porsche dealerships tend to be quite firm on not negotiating price...well they were when i bought my boxster a few years back...

all i got out of it was about $1,000 of porsche goodies which trust me ain't a lot (a few beach towels, sunglasses, umbrella and a football).

good luck. the cayman is awesome car, try getting S if you can.

In Mar-09, i was offered an Aug-08 production boxster with 97km's on it from a certain Porsche dealer for $89,900 driveaway. Might not be a factory order, but that's a fair drop from the price it would've been to order one at the time.
