hi from a new 335 owner

Hi all

Been watching the forums for a few months, a few posts helped with my recent purchase of a 335i coupe.

Was previously wandering around in an E45 325ci and was an occasional poster on e46fanatics.

After looking for a 335i for a few months, I managed to find a black one with a black interior in great condition. Two years old with 39k on the clock, bought it as a premium selection vehicle with three years warranty, servicing and on-road cover included. All the usual 335i fare with the optional 19" rims and tints.

The motor is everything I wanted, love the torque with a great top end. But the ride from the run-flat tyres (on 19's) is s--t and they will be replaced shortly. I took the car to Griffith (about 700km return trip) a fortnight ago and couldn't get over how bad the ride was on country roads.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, look forward to chatting with you all in the future. Anyone from Canberra lurking on here?

Cheers
Drew

Hi Drew:

I am new here and I also bought a white 335i few months ago. I am just wondering
coz I only got 17" wheels on it. Do you recommand 18" or 19" to get the best out it for 335i?

That's odd, since 18" rims were standard on the 335i coupes ( not sure about sedans). If your running non-RFT's 19"s are fine, if sticking to run-craps then most people prefer the 18"s as the 19"s can be a bit harsh.

Welcome Drew and enjoy the car.

Leave the 17"'s on if you have runflats. Instead of cosmetics spend a quarter of the money on a tune and the car will be sooo much faster nobody will get a look at the wheels anyway.

IMHO, 17's look crap! 19's are the go (on non runcraps)!! I might go 20's if I can see a set I like. On 19 RFTs the car has a pretty poor ride; on non runcraps its plush by comparison!

Do both (cosmetic and perf), have fun you're only young once!!!!

agree 19's are the go - but also agree that on run-flats the ride is tragic

trying to wear down the current tyres enough to justify a changeover...

Drew you may find that some tyre dealers will give you a trade on your runcraps. I dealt with a Bob Jane on the Sunshine Coast after being referred by a fellow 1addict and got about $250 a corner for each tyre as they only had about 10k km on them.

The reason for this is that people who are replacing their runcraps apparently will often buy a good 2nd hand tyre at a discount as opposed to new ones.

The Pirelli PZero's I run now are brilliant

Hi Drew

I'm a Canberran - I own a dark (monaco) blue 335 with cream interior. We've owned it for about 12 months; the best car I ever owned. I'm not sure what people find unattractive about the runflat tyres but I'm very happy with them. I've got the same rims and tyre combo as you. I can honestly say that you will love the car - every day is a joy to drive. Might see you around traps.

Cheers

Good to see another Canberran here - will keep an eye out for you! Agree it's the best car I've ever owned, pretty hard to fault it...
