Calling all freestyle skiers! Advice..
I've been riding the same Salomon 720s in 160cm for almost 10 years now and ready to get some new boards.
Currently about 6'1" 160lbs. Tall and skinny. I've always liked shorter skis for the agility, but I'm looking at a set of Line Masterminds in 177cm at a local ski shop. I consider myself an advanced skier, but will they be too long or hard to adjust to? I've heard twin tips ride significantly shorter than a normal ski. I do about 50/50 park/all-mountain, so I think these Lines are a good fit. |

Never been skiing on the east coast, do most of my skiing on real mountains in montana. I am 5'10" 160 or so and I ride Volkl Gotama 178cm, which I feel are perfect for me. I consider myself a free-skier but spend more time doing big-mountain/powder skiing. I will go into the park and throw my body around when the rest of the mountain is shitty and when I do so I notice that the extra length of my gotama's is not ideal, but doable. Honestly, I can't picture a 6'1" guy on 160cm skis. I think with a 177cm ski you would notice some huge improvements when you are out of the park. Those 160cm 720s must be so easy to throw around in the park for you, but I can't imagine they are too much fun on any kind of powder. Good luck with your search for skis.

We don't really get powder like out west. I skied Jackson Hole with them, and they are obviously less than ideal.
They are a bit ridiculous for my size, but I've been putting off getting new jawns. They are, however, very fun in the park and I feel like I'll miss them. |

I have heard very good things about the Line's. What are they underfoor?
Your binding system will also have a lot to do with how the ski feels when you take it out of the park. I would say that 177's might be a bit too long considering your weight. I weigh 205, one of my sets of ski's is the Rossingol Scratch in a 178 (I think). I can't say enough about how fun the twin tips are. The only downside is that you tend to find the speed limit on them fairly easily. other sets: Volkl All-Stars K2 Raiders Head Monsters Have you considered any of the above, specifically the Head Monster? It's great for all mountain, but might suffer in the parrk some. |

I think I'm gonna go with the Masterminds. I don't want to spend more than $320ish, and I'm sure I'll be happy with them.
I plan on having them for 5+ years, and I'll be gaining weight if anything. |
