help. exterior light malfunction error.
first. my car is a 328xi e92. no aftermarket lighting parts.
well i started my car the other day and i got this exterior light malfunction error coming up on my dash telling me that one of my outside lights is bad. i checked every light from corners, to headlights, to taillights and they're all perfectly fine. so i was driving around and then i pulled into my friends driveway, and realized that my left/driver headlight hid is pointing way to far up. the left/driver side always pointed a little bit lower than the right/passenger side. so i tried to adjust it with the knob to turn it down, but it didnt move at all. i assume that this is causing my error. does anyone know why this might have happened? i don't have any aftermarket parts on the car whatsoever, except for csl 19's and i know that's not the reason except that i'm gettin an error for not having tpms also. any help is much appreciated. i'm out of warranty, so i'm not in the mood to take it to hassle and get raped. |

will do, but it still doesnt explain why me left headlight wont point down. whenever i first start the car, the hids usually turn on in the evening, and adjust by themselves. i guess mine is stuck for some reason.

Turn your steering wheels all the way to the right and all the way to left. The cornering lights might be it cuz i had the exterior light sign and couldnt find a dam clue but after turning the sterring at a store parking lot where i could see my self reflect thru the glass. One of the cornering light was out. So when you turn your sterring wheel check forthe light that comes on when you make a turn.

after further research, i've come to the conclusion that it has to be the "leveling sensor" in the headlight because when i first put on the headlights, the left side doesnt autoadjust like the right side. does anyone know if this is an easy fix?

Search the forum, someone figured this out a while ago. Basically the arm to level your headlights can pop out which will cause it to stop levelling and be pointed randomly. It's an easy fix.
