Intakes Injen/Riss/BMS/AFe
Hey guys I did a lot of searching today and yesterday didn't find one post with info on all of these intakes together because I'm in the market to get one but its kind of hard to gather all the information on all of these so I decided to make the thread so everyone could give us their experiences on them. The more info you give us the easier it is for everyone to make up their mind. Right now I'm stuck between the Injen and the BMS because the BMS is a lot cheaper at $140 and the cheapest Injen I found was $350 even those from what I read says I might get a little more power out of the Injen I'm trying to decide on is the extra $200 dollars worth a few more HP? And then there is Riss I cant find much on that I'm guessing its new and there aren't many people that have bought them yet. AFe most people say you can feel the power but not worth the money at all. Here is my question if you have any info on these please post all your info the more the better videos dyno graphs so on.
Thank you -Minas

Is it true that Injen gets the oil temp up? from like 230-240 to 250-260?

I'd also like to know, i'm between both the injen or the bms intake. I have a jb3 and wasn't sure if map 3 and 5 were engineered with the bms intake in mind or if the Injen would work well with those tunes.

I think you will find that performance wise the BMS DCI matches up to any intake. If buying the Injen you would be buying it for looks and not for any appreciable performance gains.

I have the Injen. Here is what you need to know about it, abriged.
Install requires a little more work than most intakes but still takes only 30 mins the first time and 10-15 mins each time after that. Install requires relocation of the Power Steering Fluid Can, and requires all hardware needed to do this. Engine cowl doesn't have to come off for the install, but it helps. No drilling is required on the 335i, but some is required on the 135i. Power and throttle response are slightly noticeable on the butt dyno when stock, but its mostly felt when running tandem with a tune. I have JB3. Don't expect big gains, but look for throttle response and sound from the turbos. Awesome sound with the hood opened or closed. While driving you can hear the turbos if you step on it. Compared with the BMS Dual Cones: The sound while driving is much less invasive. You hear more of the turbos with the BMS but the sound is "off", in my opinion. With the Injen you can hear the turbos, but it is subtle and doesn't draw your attention to it every time you accelerate. All parts are quality and well finished. All hardware and necessary parts are included, along with filters and a nice instruction manual (though the pictures in it can be small at times). I love the look of it under the hood. Keep in mind that while the Injen intake is expensive, they are highly sought after and thus hold their value well if you decide to sell it. |

The relocation of the Power Steering Fluid how hard is that? and does it come with instructions on how to do everything?

Yeah, in fact I think that there is a PDF of the instructions floating around here somewhere. The PSF relocation is easy; all you have to do is remove it from the existing bracket and put it into the new one supplied by Injen. It moves it forward so that the cones can sit in place. It's a snug fit for tools while removing the old bracket, and easy to drop them or the nuts. This is the only hard part.
Also forgot to mention: My oil temperature does not run higher with the Injen. |

I like the sound of the Injen more because it is subtler. While the turbos can still be heard, it's much nicer and cleaner a sound than the BMS, which is louder. You hear the BMS every time you use the gas pedal, while with the engine you hear it only when you step on it a bit, which is what I prefer.

BMS DCI FTW. Unless you really care about looks; then go with Injen. Any intake you go with will almost give you the same performance result. Also, the BMS DCI sound is addicting!

Hmmm the INJEN from **********s.com is $439... That seems a little steep... I can get the same intake from Autoanything.com for $379 and I've ordered from them before and never had an issue... Guess I know where Im buying my intake from...
