Evolution Racewerks Charge Pipe + Synapse BOV

Big thanks to Fred and his crew at Evolution Racewerks. They built me the charge pipe from scratch with the Synapse BOV flange, so no adapters were needed.

I also used their upper intercooler piping in conjunction with my Code3 / Spearco FMIC.

I'll post some videos later when I get a chance. The sound is great!

Here is a little preview, not my car tho..

I'll see If I can record the sounds while driving, but PSI will be at stock levels in my vid....(waiting for o2 sim to install JB3 again)

Synapse has since updated their charge pipe, their BOV flange is now closer to the throttle body, but not quite as close to the throttle body as the ER charge pipe.

http://synapseengineering.pinnacleca..._Kit-19-0.html

"Updated design elements include the following: Zero weld, CNC mandrel-bent, aerospace grade Aluminum tubing Relocated BOV location closer to the throttle body for improved performance and better clearance"

I think below is Synapses updated charge pipe:

But I think a charge pipe with a cnc machined throttle body flange that retains the OEM o-ring is the way to go.

They will add meth bungs wherever you want, but I think below the silicone hose and before the bend in the pipe would be a better spot

I'm running Injen (a pic was taken before 2nd cone was installed)

I took that extra piece out of the mouth of my synapse, thats the peice you use if you want to divert the air back in. I wonder how it would sound with it still in, waiting on the sound clips if it sounds better I will put mines back in also. BTW did you just end up using the stock hoses?

HA As I was looking at the pics just now I thought that's what it might be for.

Yah I used the stock hoses

Well at first I was like "shit my car feels slower now" and then I was like "oh yah I took the JB3 out yesterday"

I'll withhold judgement on performance until the JB3 is back in, but throttle reponse does seem improved

I have the full synapse kit (with their new chargepipe installed). I must admit that I could never imagine how much different the car feels...

Firstly i took some comparison graphs. All of those has been taken using V3 but different DVs

Stock DVs

Forge Dvs

Synapse BOV + Chargepipe

The difference is obvious ,i think...

It definitely seems like the synapse holds boost better throughout, and smoother, seems like with stock and forge dv's the boost starts to drop at the end (and a little rough at the beginning)..the dv's are probably having trouble holding the air at those points, but not the synapse.

The time graphs I don't really understand though

I told you guys that the synapse is the best bov on the market and now there is data to back it up. My throttle response has improved because It holds boost way better and it responds so quickly.

ya easily the best, I don't like springs for bovs/dvs, very primitive. The synapse design is amazing. Question for the current synapse users: if you want to, is there a legit hose you could attach to it for recirculation?

I don't know if you would want to divert it cause you would only be able to divert it back into one intake and I don't see the benefit of it. If you are asking if it comes with a special hose to divert it back into both intakes then no.

I'm currently working on a custom Y connector that could be used in conjuction with the BOV's adapter (included into the packaging) to recirculate the air in both intake pipes.

I will post more things when i have every thing ready (currently no pics whatsoever). Custom pipes will be needed for this reason...everything will be soon ready.

Impressive piece of work. I would feel very confident with such chargepipe.
Weldone...

yeah just installed mine and i love it ! much better than the tial that i had before... just two things that i have noticed ...

1) on the highway under light throttle i can hear air rushing out of the valve (this is only when my boost gauge is in vacuum)

2) my average mpg has gone way way up! i averaged 17-18mpg before i installed it .... now i average 21-23.... the only thing i can think of that could be similar is that once when i had my a4 2.0t the IC pipe blew off the intake mani on my drive up to Mohegan sun.... i averaged like 28 usually on the highway but on this trip i averaged 36... yes i had no power but my mpg went way up when it was not getting all that compressed air... not sure if this has any relevance but similar sound with similar out come...

any thoughts on this ?
