Exclamation Check This Out

So i was driving on the damn BQE coming back to queens. I was drinking coffee and didn't pay attention for a split sec and hit this freaking hole!!! i felt like i destroyed my rim, I have 162 rims on my e90 with the infamous RFT But no errors come up or warnings of low pressure so i kept driving. I get home and saw that a new bubble on the tire wall. I said ahh fuck it i have another tire let me go have it installed. Good thing i did because check what we saw after the old tire came off. Mind this tire only had 4k miles on it. I bought an extra tire just in case well thank god i did.

your TPMS system does not have an alert for bubbles in a tire.

I don't have TPMS.

I have this- Flat Tire Monitor FTM

The concept:

The Flat Tire Monitor monitors tire pressures
while the car is being driven. The system
reports any significant loss of pressure in one
tire in relation to another.
If a tire loses pressure, its rolling radius
changes, and this in turn alters the speed of
rotation. This change is detected and is
reported as a flat tire.

With the bubble it would change the radius.

my hands are clapping to the construction of that rim then, my rims bend over holes 1/16th the size of what it seems you hit.

not entirely. ive seen people with bubbles almost just as bad as that, and never had their lights come on, FTM or TPMS. having a bubble doesnt change the rolling radius all that much to detect a flat. The whole tire would have to be shredded up on the inside to even detect it.

Ive seen them go for 10-15 miles or more on a runflat tire that was flat, before the FTM picked up that it was flat. It wasn't BMWs greatest design in some areas...
