Service engine soon light with a drivetrain chug
Started my car up to day and herd and felt a "light chug". Was hoping it was just the cold and would go away in a min but it continued. Drove up the street and the Service engine light came on. Gears engage fine for 1st and 2nd so maybe tranny, or bad gas??
I did let someone try and drive my car the other day to let them try a 6mt, stalled in 2nd gear pretty bad. But it drove fine for the rest of the night, no issues what so ever, and i did top off my gas at the end of the night and it sat in the driveway until today. Any codes i could pull from this to see what my car tells me?

Service engine soon light with a drivetrain chug
I had some what of the same thing this afternoon. I was on my way out of town, stepped on the gas to pass a car at about 45 - 50 mph, never went past 3,000 rpm. Service engine soon light came on and had a very rough idle and chugging. Pulled to stop light and I thought the car was going to quit. I did a u-turn to go back home to switch out cars and just about the time I got home the light went out and the car was running normal again.
Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I have seen some posts on rough idle and chugging but no real answers as to what the problem might be. |

Yea, I'm kind of also having the same issue, and I just bought the car about a week ago. Mine has actually died while at a traffic light and while taking off. I took it to a BMW dealership and told me it was multiple things. The attachment shows everything that they found wrong. Went back to the dealership where I bought the car and they replaced the water pump because when they diagnosed it that was the only error code that came up. So, drove it home and it started chugging again and died twice. I noticed though that whenever the service engine light came on the car would die. How frustrating...

My problem turned out to be a misfire. Had to replace the ignition coil @ $80 for the coil, i was out of warranty, but some have said its covered under CPO warranty
