cleaning idrive?
hey guys quick question,
is it possible to remove the buttons on the idrive controller to clean it? something liquid or something my dad spilled on it/in it is preventing the buttons from "clicking" BMW suggested to replace the idrive controller.. for a mere $600 ![]() thanks! Calvin

If you remove the center console trim and the Idrive knob (there are threads in the DIY section on how to do both) you will have access to the button assembly and can clean them. I don't know if the buttons themselves can be removed for cleaning but if they are like most BMW button assemblies then the case of the module can be opened and the buttons accessed for cleaning.

it should be much cheaper to buy the module from tischer and replace it yourself. It's very simple job to remove the controller.

You might also want to use a brush to get in the cracks and some AIO first.
