My new toy.. Might kill me.
So I know Rick and Rita Case personally because of their son and daughter, Ryan and Raquel, so I received an amazing deal on a CBR100RR. I use to ride dirt bikes back a few years ago so I figured I would be fine.
I was sitting at the light and my wifey calls me and the light turns green so I fumbled and put the phone away. I gave a bit too much gas and the bike came up form under me. I also have some road rash on my arm, but nothing too serious. The bike has some scratches on the fairings as well. Obviously, the wifey was freaking out so she wants me to get rid of it. Well I finally convinced her I can get frame sliders, extend the bike, and lower the bike so it won't ever come up again. I don't know much about bikes at all. So I need some advice/opinions on where to go and what to buy so the bike won't come up again. Questions/comments/concerns are all welcome. Try not to flame as much. |

Modifying your bike is not the solution. It wasn't the bike's fault that it came up on you. Even if you've extended the bike and lowered it, without experience, you could still flip the shit out of it. Easy on the throttle. Just keep in mind that you're riding a 1000cc.
btw, get rid of that license plate holder! |

Shorts??
Please tell us you were not wearing sandals too. Leathers may sound brutal for your area but they will keep your sh%t in place should you have a spill. |

I'd start by not taking calls while you are riding.
Gnarly rash though. I used to ride Mt. Bikes all the time... People knew you weren't hardcore unless you came back to the trailhead with bloody calves/shins/forearms, etc. Nothing like that of course.. but then again it wasn't a 1000cc bike either. |

Or you could just not talk on your cell phone while on a motorcycle....derrrrr
It's bad enough when people do that in the car. When I used to ride motorcycles my wife knew that she couldn't expect me to answer the phone. |

Lowering the bike is going to hurt handling and cause you to drag parts earlier. Extending the swing arm will increase your turning radius. Best advice is to dress out head to toe, wear it EVERYtime, and no calls. If you are intent on modding, you could change the rear sprocket. It's been a while since I totalled my R6 but if I remember right guys went down a tooth to get better accel. I don't see why you couldn't add a tooth to get less. Or get a 600...
