High Quality, Lightweight 19in Wheels?
Hey All,
I am looking for a set of wheels for my e92. I like the BBS LM, GT-RS, RGR, etc. What other High quality (high strength - houston has BAD potholes), but lightweight wheels can yall recommend? I plan to do some tracking with the car so I would like to reduce the weight but still have very strong wheels. Thanks! Mat |

First I would say that there is a lot of options for you. I am getting some HRE's in a few weeks so I cant sleep.
![]() DPE Iforged HRE The above are out of california, which I am stoked Volk - is out of Japan so turn around could be long BBS -Is also out of Japan. In closing you also want a wheel shop that will work with you and knows there stuff. I am very picky and as you can see I have read a lot about wheels and such (obessive compulsive). I can not recomend Creative Autowerks in San Diego more. They have great relationships with the DPE, HRE, IF and Kinesis as they are all in and around san Diego. Good luck my friend and let me know what you get, i would love to see some picks. ![]()

I weighed my 162's with run flats, and the front was 57 lbs., rear was 60 lbs. needles to say pretty heavy. I have also read that the stock 162's weigh 24.7lbs. front and 26.2 lbs. rear, but that would make the runflat weigh 32.3 lbs, and 33.8 lbs. which sounds too heavy, so I think the 162's must weigh a little more.

yeah, it's really hard to find the weight data for those OEM wheels, unless you dig deep into a lot of literature

Although I do not want to get into a debate about quality, I will say that it is absolutely without a shadow of a doubt that a one piece forged wheel will be lighter then anything else. I think one of the hardest things of finding a wheel is finding one you like. Man, I lost sleep trying to figure out which ones I like best. My first choice was Volk MEs, so sweet, but I heard people were waiting forever to get them. I could go on and on about how I was going back and forth, but in the end, I thought I made the best choice for look, quality and performance. Price is another issue. Volks are pretty sweet, but you will wait a long time. I guarantee if you pick any of those wheels and you get what you like, they will be awesome.

What about CCW? They make a very high quality set of wheels, completely custom to your liking. The CCW classic is a great wheel, while it is only available in 18 inch (17 inch too, but i doubt u will be doing that), a street set will set you back around 2500 i would imagine in the right sizes. A track set will only set you back like 2200, I dont know what the difference is you would havec to call to find out.
They also offer a wide variety of other styles, the classic is just my favorite. Their website is www.ccwwheel.com |

BBS RGR. By far the best thing I've done to my car. The weight reduction compared to the OEM M spoke wheels made for an incredibly light and responsive feel - difficult to do on an already great handling/feeling car. No clue whether I got any true performance gains, but the feel alone during everyday driving was worth it.
