Hi,

So I was reversing off the drive tonight and to avoid a parked car behind me had to turn slightly more than I normally would, this made my front wheel dip into soft soil which in turn made the front jacking point hit the curb underneath.

On inspection, I cannot see the jacking point (the black plastic box), but I also cannot push back the metal and plastic covers that are around that area. The whole area has been pushed down by about an inch. It's possible that the jacking point plastic box is sat on the driveway but I won't know until I am back from work in 8 hours time!!

I will try and post pics later, but in the meantime, has anyone had a similar experience, and is it an expensive fix!!??

i cant imagine that the jacking points could be that expensive especially fir a piece of plastic........then again this BMW were talking about.

They are cheap and easy to replace - of course if you don't have too much other damage around the area.

I'm hoping that the photo from the side of the car makes it look worse than it actually is. The one from underneath makes it look like I just need to replace the black pastic jacking point cap and secure the broken plastic bits out the way somehow??

easy fix to find a block of wood about the same size as the jacking point or buy a rubber hockey puck, which also fits perfectly. Carry it with you all the time and you'll never worry about the jacking points again.

You will need a torx screwdriver to remove the plastic screws that hold the bottom trim and side skirt to get the jack point back out. Be careful as you can easily scratch your hand.

A jack point should not be that expensive in the UK. The dealership will probably stock them.

If it makes you feel better, I ripped the front passenger jackpoint out of the car < 48 h of driving it new. I also damaged the undercarriage paper like trim piece because the jackpoint wedged itself there.

Exactly right!!! Thanks!!! I was able to pull it out without needing to undo the torx. Got replacement jack box from dealer today for £9.20. I also found a torx screw on the drive, but I need to cjack to car up slightly to be able to screw it in to hold some of the plastic cover in. All in all, not as bad as it looked!

I think the skirt's ok, but I'll have a good look tomorrow when I am free to inspect!
