Anyone recommend an insurance company??

Hi all,

Hope your all well....and starting to enjoy our rear wheel drive monsters a little more now the snow has disappeared (for most anyway).

Well, its time to renew my insurance and my current insurance renewal has nearly doubled so need to shop around....apparently due to the "weather" a lot of underwriters have put premiums up on rear wheel drive cars esp BMW and Mercs. Quote has gone from £600 to over a grand.

Can anyone recommend a company I could do to...I've always used specialist insurers rather than large companies but just done a quote on Confused.com and got a good deal with Swiftcover. (£640)

I'm 30yrs old, 5yrs NCB, 3 points, No Claims etc etc wanting Fully Comp on my 335d E90 Saloon.

Any suggestions or shall I just go with Swiftcover?! Anyone on here insured with them?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Sounds utterly bizarre but my best quote was from BMW Insurance.

After having a claim on my R32 (someone crashed into the back of me) a while back, I want my car "properly" sorted if there is a problem.

The company (Admiral) sent me to a very dodgy bodyshop and my courtesy car for almost two weeks was a ten year old Micra with a paint strippered bonnet. Never ever again...

Hi mate, I'd recommend trying a broker.

I've got an account setup with Chris Knott who are a club-only broker.. And they saved me well over £200. No fooling. Drop them a line ...

And for me Privilege.... It depends entirely on what their risk profile is at the time, but there are people on here who know a lot more about it than me....good luck!

What will you spend the savings on, that's the question

Aviva were cheapest for me but they were doing a 12 months for the price of 10 deal. As said before, shop around. Try another site like moneysupermarket.com.

Thanks everyone.....really appreciated! Had to nip to meeting this afternoon, so should be able to ring round tomorrow. Did Gocompare and AXA came up as best on there. So am down to around the £600 mark. Which isn't too bad really...same as I paid last year. But disappointing considering I'm now 30, extra years NCB and only got 3 points (had 6 last year).

Thanks again though all

Went with LV for mine - remapped £480. I followed the guide on the moneysavingexpert site which helped with shortlisting..
