Clutch Delay Valve Modified - Darren Wood BMW Specialist

I know this has been done to death, but today I have had the clutch delay valve replaced with a modified valve.

As predicted, it's transformed the way the car drives. I feel I have full control over the clutch. Smooth 1st to 2nd gear changes without having to think about it. Very pleased.

Had the job done at Darren Wood BMW Specialist in Bredbury, Stockport after they were recommended by a friend from the M3 forum.

Thanks to Darren and Mike for providing a superb service. CDV replacement and bleed clutch inc. fluid. £30.

Friendly guys, chatted over an hour about all sorts. Both very knowledgable ex. BMW technicians. And at £40/hr labour, I can't recommend them enough.

Will be returning come service time.

Cheers

James

good info, did you buy the replacement valve yourself or did they supply?

The previous owner, 'Yahoo' from this forum gave me a modified valve when I bought the car from him, so I have used that one.

However, it really is a simple case of pushing out a rubber and metal collar that creates the restriction inside the valve. I believe an allan key works perfectly. It would be definitly something that could be done at the time of the replacement so you don't need to buy one.

I've has this done today at the same place.

Brilliant - both the service of the Garage, and the new clutch performance.

They supply a previously modded valve and keep your old one, which they then mod for another car.

All in £30 + vat fitted.

The clutch feels very different in a subtle way, just smoother and much more easy to modulate, especially when pulling away quickly. Most remarkably the tricky 1st to 2nd shift is now super smooth.

What were BMW thinking of?
