My dad got a '07 335i sedan this past August and programmed the car's Homelink garage door button without issue. Everything was working fine with it all summer, but starting in December, my dad's been experiencing an intermittent problem getting the garage door to open and/or close when using the Homelink button inside the car.
Sometimes, upon coming home and not being able to just drive inside, he'll call on his cell to get someone in the house to manually press the wall button in the garage, and then if he tries the 335i's button again the door *will* close, but then if he immediately presses it again, it won't open. Other times, when he's leaving the house (having opened the garage from the wall button), he finds the car's button won't close the garage door. But after that, when he comes home again, the button opens the door without issue! There doesn't seem to be any definite pattern to it. Anyone ever experienced anything like this? Any idea what the problem is, and what the solution is? ![]() My theory is that it might be happening only when it's very cold out (-10 to -15C/5-10degF). My dad says he hasn't been keeping track.. Is he pressing and holding the homelink button? Try holding it for a second or two longer

Yea I had this happen to me on numerous occasions where it just doesn't seem to respond but after like 10+ tries sometimes it works.
Seems like from my experience that it does have something to do with the weather, either when it's cold or really windy it seems like it has problems getting the signal. On a clear day or night it would work when I'm a house away, but wouldn't work when I'm right in front on a cold or windy day. Sounds crazy but that's what I noticed too. -Jeff |

See if the light blinks when it doesn't open. If it does you can rule out something electrical dealing with power to the unit
