Best Noise for the $

Intake or exhaust...which one would you choose?

I was thinking Injen intake, but wasn't sure about the heat shield issue or voiding warranty for some stupid reason.

+1. I enjoy mine. It does have a nice sound around 5000 rpm. It sounds like I have an aftermarket exhaust.

If your looking for the best bang for the buck, I personally would say a muffler/resonator delete. I just got mine done and am absolutley elated with the sound. Total cost was 152 dollars and an hour or so of time. Just my two cents.

i've been looking at some of the vids of the muffler delete but I'm still concerned that it might be too loud. I'm looking for a nice clean noise...something you would expect from a bimmer. If I do decide to go this route what would you guys say is the best sounding muffler, magnflow?

Intake is a nice bang for the buck, giving you a nice sound, better throttle response at a decent price. Muffler delete isn't for everyone.

It isnt bang for buck, but I went OEM performance intake and exhaust, and it did liven things up some.

It also wasn't overbearing.

Good choice if you have the $$$, although I'm not sure what the intake is really getting you besides some eye candy.

So out of all the intakes out there, it looks like Injen is a fan favourite?

idk, but look in the non-turbo sponsor/vendors section and pm vendors who sells them and see who can give u a better price.
I got mine from bavarianx, but when they first came out....now almost every vendor sells them haha

I feel the throttle response is much better with it. Probably one of the better ones performance wise.

But the performance gains for any intake is so small it is hard to notice.

I'm not sure why a closed intake would be better performance wise. No matter what you get, you are talking a trivial 5hp at best.

Taking out the charcoal filter is the best bang for the buck in my opinion. doesn't the BMW keep that filter in?

BMW is great if you like carbon and don't want to change the sound much.

AFE or Injen is great if you want to get some noise out of your engine/exhaust. There isn't much quantitative difference between those two.

Either way, this car does deserve better throttle response and intake can help that.

Many of you are recommending Injen intake. I just ordered an AFE stage 2 intake and it is making me wonder if I made the right choice. I searched a lot about intakes and many threads have mentioned that the Injen intake rubs on something and it also doesn't have a cover for heat shield. Therefore I went with AFE stage 2.

Your input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I had a small rattle in the hood the first two days. So I brought it back to bavarianx in brea, ca and the tech just tightened up a screw and nevr heard a single rattle eversince.

There doesn't seem to be too much difference between the AFE or Injen, other than maybe a better heat shield on the AFE.

my friend has an authentic Gruppe M on this 325ci E46 ... the best intake I have ever heard in my life!

How does the replica version for the e9x sound... is it worth the money for a rep?
