I think the BMS guys have a 135 with the N55 on order....Should be interesting to see how they tune this motor. My guess is BMW will probably seal up that ECU box much tighter than they do with our current cars.

Expect an N55 tune from us. It will use the same PROcede rev.2 CANbus unit that we currently use. Just with a different harness and different firmware/maps. I

Of course there will be tunes. The question is...when ? I suppose it will have to pass at least the same amount of time that has passed until the first N54 tunes were available. Maybe 9-12 months after launch ?

They are probably going to seal it with GLUE!! lol I wouldn't be surprised if they have the ECU in one of those seals that once opened need to be replaced...

It's the old game, whatever will be developed, it can be hacked ...
However, I am curious to know more about the N55 capabilities. Hopefully BMW didn't downsize the strenght of the engine components to reduce weight. IMO there is a reason why the N54 is further used in the 335is. My $0.02 Eugen |

It can be hacked but what happens if they only sell the ECU seal or box to dealers only with vin specific..Nothing is impossible if your not able to get replacement piece for it! lol

You talk about warranty. Not relevant, if you don't care about it. Tuners developing a tune won't.

well ofcourse if warranty is not an issue then its all good, but if you haven't noticed alot of the community here likes to tune their cars and retain warranty...Thats the problem we are discussing..

- HPFP dies, do i deserve greif for having tuned my car ?? NO !! - VANOS solenoid dies.... same deal !!!! - wastegates rattle.... same deal !!!! So yes.. it will suck if they have an obvious way of knowing if you got to the ECU or not.... My turbos are leaking oil btw... so i ordered a set from ASR... i'm not going to hold BMW to that one, not their fault.. its mine... It's just too bad that neither BMW OR MANY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS are honorable enough to accept responsibility for their faulty design/hardware or for their modes (depending on which side you are on) and once the trying to deny responsibility starts to happen on one side... it's forced on the other side.... really too bad..... I've even gone through the effort/cost to repair things (like HPFP) myself to avoid them poking at my car... to avoid potential warranty issue later... (like VANOS died 'because you have downpipes' BS) .... |

Yea, could be they put a microsoft or comptuer style thingy on it with vin# or something and once you crack that, buhbuy warranty! Wouldnt be shocked to see it at all.

well, warranty claims MIGHT be raised for sure in case the same problems occur on untuned cars. in case U tune, it's up to U to cover repair costs, IMO.

I wonder why they moved the ECU onto the engine/intake block/manifold?
Anyways yes they will def be tunes out for it. The real question is going to be the potential of the engine. |
