Ok guys, just wondering you all's opinion on wether if it is really necessary to get genuine oem bmw mtech bodykit from the dealership for higher price or just go with like a duraflex version or any places that have it?

comments welcomed

Well....it's not necessary to go with an OEM kit, but I personally wouldn't do it any other way. I prefer the precise fitment of OEM products as well as quality of material. So if the kit is available as an OEM product, I'd go that way.

Be careful going with kits that are not OEM, as you may save some $ now, but have headaches down the road, eg, fitment and durability issues. And if you are factoring resale value down the line, I am sure most members here would prefer or pay more for OEM products versus replicas.

It's highly doubtful that you can save much on buying non-oem seeing that tischer prices the m-tech parts so low already.. might as well get the real thing.

definitely agree.
most of the non-oem mtech style kits out there require some work ($$), fog lights/mesh grill set to buy (more $$), and possible hardware(screws etc = more $$). I looked into a bunch of em and they are mostly this "duraflex" material... i just wouldn't trust that on a car of this level... maybe on my 88 civic I would of considered these cheap alternatives to real pp/oem material.

and yeah for sure Tischer gives great prices

Depends on where you get the aftermarket kit. We carry an M3 style bumper for the E90 that is a direct fit with the factory style mounts, lower mesh and fogs. There are other versions that I would not recommend so do your research and let me know if I can help out.

Try to talk w/ the parts guy at Moss Motors to see if they'll price match. If not, go w/ TischerBMW

What are you guys paying for a complete OEM M Tech body kit in the states? BMW here in Germany is doing a special for the whole kit for 875 Euro for a limited time (all hardware, grilles, fog lights etc...). It cost me about $1200 for the kit and another $900 for their body shop to paint it.

I actually looked at the m3 bumper but the thing i hate most about the whole bumper is the finishing rod, i think it just doesnt look clean

Yea, i might try that but it always seems like the guys at the moss motors where i live are half-assing around in the parts department, the only thing i there service is the maintenance service.

yes! if you go this route i highly recommend the quality of this bumper! (since i have it on haha)
my body shop guy actually said he was really surprised this isn't an oem bumper b/c the quality is so high.

As long as they're OEM parts BMW will not say anything.
