Where did you buy LL01 oil for your car?
Ok guys, where the hell are you going to buy your oil? I have just returned from my THIRD parts store and none had:
Castrol Syntec 0W-30 Mobil 1 0W-40 My car is telling me 1+ qt and want to avoid going to the dealership just to get a stupid oil change. Should I try Wal-Mart? Help! |

Why dont you call a few places and find out who carries them around your area?
It'll probably save you more time and the hassle of driving around. Not that driving around in a 335i is ever a bad thing |

Advance Auto Parts had a great promotion. I got a bunch of Mobil1 0W-40 European Formula for an awesome price.

Just call around and see who has it. Advanced AP always has it for me. I have even seen it at Wal-mart from time to time.
I did the same thing...bought 15 quarts when they were running that promotion...I think it was the one where they offered a filter included too, but I just turned down the filter since they don't carry them for the N54. |

I spent the rest on a breaker bar and plugs and other stuff for my E34. Don't know if they have low profile jacks for you to use, but stands are a good idea.

Dealership is cheaper, if you want to run in and buy a quart, but like everyone else says.

some dealership will do it for free, some may charge 1 quartz but you don't have to wait. only $6~7 at the dealership anyways...
if you have bmw 5w30, i'd just go to dealer. some other oil, i'd try many mentioned above...

If the car is new enough, all the fluids are covered, so just pull up into the service area and tell them you need some oil. Same thing for washer fluid. The last time I asked for oil, the guy just brought a quart out, broke the seal and poured it in. For in between oil changes, that is a different story.

Advance Auto has a promotion going on, 5 quarts of mobile1 plus an oil filter for $27. I used the free filter for my Jeep and picked up a E90 filter from the stealership for $18.
The oil works out to be $5.40 a quart except you have to buy two quarts at $8 each, so it's actually $6.14 each.

the dealership charges me 6.25 per qt. 6.14 doesn't seem like much of a bargain.

I didn't ask how much the oil was from the dealer but I'm guessing if they are charging $18 for the filter the oil is not going to be $6.25. I've felt good using Mobile1 in my jeep the past 8 years so I decided to stick with it for now. I'm curious now how much my dealer is charging, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow.
