I have almost 39k very hard driven miles on my original spark plugs. The majority of these miles (read: ~36k) have been modded with at the very least a procede (starting with v2). I haven't ever had any misfires or anything.

/edit/ here are some pics.

Better yet, see the condition of the plugs. How far can we go typically, since I am unmodded and DONT drive it hard most of the time, at 30k, when would I need to change? 50k? Later?

On my first car 335xi i waited till 15K the car was tuned since 1k miles and noticed a big difference,
Now with my 135i I change them every 10K miles, car is being pushed double the stock boost.
i get them at www.autohausaz.com

I have 35,500 untuned miles, I will probably change them at 42 or next oil change. Why is that socket wrench like $20!?

I'm ordering them right now after reading your post. 18K with no misfires yet, but if it makes that big of a difference I will replace them.

i just did my spark plugs second time. last time i was at 30k and now i'm at close to 50k (actual mileage since last spark plug replacement is about 18.5k).

the mechanic said
"oh it's not that bad for 50k"
and i said
"it's only been less than 20k since last spark plug change"
and my mechanic goes
" holly crap that doesn't look good at all then"
so i replied
"yea that's what you get with DI TT engine. according to BMW, it's LIFETIME thing (100k)".
and we both laughed at it... i'll snap a pic tomorrow...

Maybe I should change mine out. I'm 39K with a occasional misfire during WOT.

Changed mine at 45k with procede since 12k. I noticed no difference and the plugs that came out actually looked great for the milage.

Do you guys need to gap the plugs before install or do you just put them in?

I think they have four electrodes, no gapping.

I definitely need to do this... 17k on the clock (10k of those tuned), still on original plugs. Jp, let us know if you feel a difference.
