exhaust tips

I have an e90 335 and off lately one of the exhaust tip (passenger side) is turning black. Is there any specific reason that only one tip is turning black and not both? Is this normal?

It's normal because there's a valve in the driver's side pipe that only opens up sometimes.

What does your link have anything to do with the exhaust tip turning black? Are you helping him so that they can now both turn black or something?

And how can you get the black off, because mine has been there since I got the car. I have used all kinds of car soaps as well as this Maguires metal polish stuff that's supposed to get everything off, but that didn't help either.

I told him why only one of them turns black and I gave him some reading material because obviously he hasn't searched. What's your problem?

If you want to remove the black stuff, try using some #0000 steel wool with some sort of metal polish. I use Chemical Guys Metal Polish and it works great.

Not sure why you think I have a problem, I was just wondering how your link pertained to his question. No hurt intended.

Normal.

Steel wool is overkill - use Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish.
