Elms Stansted

Hi guys (and gals),

Been a little while since I posted (been crazy busy at work) so hope you're all ok.

Just a quickie, does anyone know what Elms Standsted are like? Purely for purchase, all my servicing etc would be done locally (Sytner HW).

TIA

I don't know what they're like but if I recall correctly our Carlos isn't a big fan. I'm assuming they have a car you want in stock.

Drop Anneka @ Sytner a message to see if she can help. Buying through her at least you're guaranteed sound, enthusiast like service.

All dealerships should give you a good level of service, but if there's anything I can do, I'll be happy to help

They do indeed have a motor I am after. Do all dealers prep their AUC cars to the same standard?

Once I am done buying via Elms I would basically hope to never see them again as any issues etc would be dealt with by someone more local...

Indeed they should all prepare AUC cars to the same standard, however some dealers might only to do very basic such as refurbish any kerbed wheels etc.

Sounds like you might have a done deal already with Elms on the car with red leather . I'm sure you already also know, that usually an AUC car can be bought through any BMW dealership.

You got my number pal!

No deal done yet, apparently they do not have it in stock yet but it will arrive on Monday/Tuesday. The chap I spoke to said if I put a deposit down that will secure the car for me and I can go see it next weekend. If we cannot come to an agreement on price/my part-ex I can get a full refund.

Does this sound reasonable?

Bought my last car from them. Wasnt that impressed, but most dealers are much of a muchness. If they have the car you want at a price you're willing to pay, go for it :-)

Yeah this is it. I've been holding off for sometime but this one has the spec and I want (minus a couple of minor bits but I can live with that). It's low mileage and the price is reasonable (about what I was expecting to pay).

I think I am going to go for it. The salesman sent me an email outlining that if I put a deposit down and we cant come to an agreement on price and my part-ex when I do see the vehicle I can get my money back.

I feel this is an acceptable compromise. They might take delivery of it tomorrow which is convenient as I have the day off. Otherwise it will be next weekend.

Fingers crossed it all pans out as I hope.

Good luck with it TN

Good luck...the car is photographed at BMW HQ location, it seems that it is a BMW direct registered car that Elms are buying for their AUC stock.

My advise would be to play dealers off one another and hope to get the better deal. Best of luck with your purchase.

I spoke a little more with the salesman and he said the car should be coming ready-prepped from BMW directly. However, if there are issues which they consider sub-par Elms will resolve them themselves.

When I go to see it I will be sure to give it a good check over with specific attention to:

Paintwork/signs of respray
Panel gaps
Wheels - how do I check these for cracks easily?
Tyres/wear
Interior condition - the leather, pedals and wheel etc
OBC/i-Drive service menu

Is there anything else I need to keep in mind? I assume that with this being an AUC vehicle I should have complete peace of mind and if there is an issue recourse would be via any other BMW dealership?

EDIT:

flyfs6, the price seems good considering the mileage does it not?

Lightbulb

The price seems good, and represents a good saving off the original rrp list price. Any more money off the asking price is a bonus , hence the suggestions. Elms obviously have a margin in there, so please make sure you do try to get some money off, if I was Elms I would be reluctant in reducing the price right away. Where as another dealer might be able to buy the car on trade and pass some saving on to you.
