E92/E93 rear turn signal LED by autolumination
Howdy folks
anybody tried the LED tower LED bulbs 1156 from autolimination ? http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm Apparently no need for load equaliser resistors for these. There seems to be couple of 1156 LED tower types with 60, 11 or 45 LEDs I tried some jlevi V2 LED bulbs with equalisers but they were still throwing error codes ... thanks - Wim

If I may suggest a solution for various needs:
If you want to use a LED as a turn signal: get the brightest AutoLumination bulb you can get for your mounting type (the eagle eye bulbs are absurdly bright...in fact, OSS is sourcing one of the designs they offer for his custom turn signal bulb for the E92's), and install it. It will hyper-flash and throw errors. Solution: Wire in a resistor, and if you still get errors for some reason, code it out. If you want to use a LED as a stop light or backup bulb: again, get the brightest AutoLumination bulb you can get for your mounting type and install it. It will throw errors. Solution: Code out the bulb check for that spot. |

I have no clue about coding. Can a AutoLogic programmer do the job? Will this be safe... i.e. what if the LED bulb burn out |

Also, just to confirm, the bulbs are sold individually, not in pairs right? Last edited by JunkStory; 03-23-2012 at 11:22 PM.. |

Hyper blink is usually due to the bulb flasher relay being the older mechanical type that depends on resistance to function properly. Replacing this relay/flasher with the newer electronic type remedies this problem. The turn signal flasher is located near the steering column under the dash. Early 2007 builds (mine is 9/06) will have the older flasher type.

I ordered these instead ($39 shipped) and arrived to me in 6 business days. They are slightly brighter than stock bulbs, and probably very similar to the ones from the robbers at autolumination. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-7-5W-LED-...item5ae604612a I coded the car using a cable I bought on ebay, and followed the DIY pdf in the coding section. I only need to change 4 values, and now, no error or higher blinking. |

There really is nothing to show IMO. The color between the LED and stock bulb is 99% identical. It is ever so slightly brighter. The main advantage is that you get the crisp on/off effect, and you eliminate the subtle yellow yolk inside the tail light housing. |

Also, anyone know if LEDs are available for our e92/93 brake lights?
