Techniques for folding a wet and dirty mirror?!
Guys!
So, I've not got electric folding mirrors - not the worlds worst thing to have missing, but it does slightly annoy me. This is a bit of a light hearted quesiton, but for those of you who also don't have the option, how to you fold the mirror when it's covered in greasy road cr*p without getting a wet dirty hand?!

Push it with your fingernail on the trim to close. Pull it with a fingertip to open. Or, just close it the your hand and wipe the hand on your trousers leg. Better to keep a towel or gloves in the boot. They come in handy for activities other than mirror folding, too.

Aren't you worried it will get smashed off when parked on a street?

A cyclist nearly hit me once even though I was standing in the door but with the mirrors auto folded so I couldn't see him until he got close. I think this is why they removed auto folding from the lci e9x. Just as well you don't have electric folding mirrors.
I'd rather park in the middle of a field than fold mirrors |

On my Leon I could fold them from the fob. This enabled me to get out of the car safely and then click and hold lock to close the windows and fold the mirrors..... So with the beemer you have to fold them from within the car?

Maybe I'm too obsessed! Might just leave them.
Thing is, if the mirror gets knocked off the wife won't let me hear the end of it.... It would be all my fault!

I shouldn't complain really, it's better to have a girl that takes care of the car than not.....if she didn't care i'd prob end up with a kerbed wheel everyday. She's only done an alloy once and she had it fixed within 2 weeks

Unless dog cack somehow splatted all over them, I have things called "hands" which I use - very rarely though because I hardly ever park on narrow lanes.

I actually use my stomach to push the mirrors in mate. Tense the abs and push in. Just make sure you're not wearing anything that may scratch it.
