Engine Temp
Just a question regarding engine temp (or at least the oil temp) and mods.
When my car was stock, after warming up, oil temps consistently showed at about 250 or 260 regardless of the time of year and outside temp. I've since put on the BMS DCI, Helix Intercooler, UR Catted DPs, AE Catless Exhaust and the JB3. With these mods, the oil temp hovers around 220 - 230. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't expect this, but I assume it is a good thing, right? |

That seems very hot, after mods seems about right though. If anything it should go the other way (more power=more heat). It might be a sign that your car was not running properly with out the mods. I would turn off the jb3 for a few days and see how it runs. If it continues I would dealer it (after the mods are removed).

I bought the sport package and at the time thought it would come with the oil cooler (and 155 mph speed limit) but I have the 17" rims so no luck. Mainly, I just thought it was weird that after mods (more power) the car was running cooler... |

The car wouldnt run hotter with the mods(unless youre constantly wot). Under normal driving circumstances your car will run cooler because of the fmic, and with the intake, dp's, and exhaust, the car is actually running alot more efficiently. I noticed the same thing when I started modding my car..I have the oem oil cooler and I never go above 250 after a few runs at wot

This is a bit off topic but interesting -- My 2007 335i coupe would often go a bit above 250 degrees while my 2009 335i coupe with the M-sport package never gets above 240 regardless of ambient temperature. The only differnce that I am aware of is the the larger exposed are of the intercooler.
