Saloon - air intake coming off
My wifes 325d MY09 air intake keeps on dropping off, causing the engine to rattle badly, can anyone suggest why this is happening?
The other thing I have noticed is that the air shutter (visible through the grills) is never open, should it be? |

I have been having the exact same problem as you have mate with my E92 325d. It sounds terrible when its rattling! I push it back in every few days, seems to have stuck in for a while now though !

It's really annoying me now, it makes the car sound like an old renault 5! I have to say that the facelift 3 series saloon is not a patch on my 2008 M sport coupe - they are MILES apart in terms of quality.
The puzzling thing is that they both have identical engines, but the saloon drives like a dog, is there a different mapping on M Sports? Even the gear change is awful - it kicks between third and fourth - is this normal? Still, at least it's a leased car - any problems it goes back in! But I'm forever hearing "no fault found" !! |

I think this is only going to affect those models with Efficient Dynamics (the change in design to the air intake is probably the cause) I wonder if there is a tech note relating to this?

The car went in yesterday, the technician pushed the hose back in, sent the car back to me, and by the time it did the 18 mile journey back to my house the hose had come back off again. Anyone any ideas why this is happening?
Bit fed up of these cars now, they drive like a dream but when there's a problem the dealers are not interested. |
