DDMtuning new HID kit non slim

Hey has anyone tried their new HID kits - $30, the non slim version.

http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p...=102&parent=85

Lifetime guarantee. I remember these being more solid when it came to codes and such too.

I was considering this for my fogs.

Any ideas on this?

These look like the same kit that I got on eBay for 39.95 shipped. DDM has a 4500k color that I think will match the OEM Xenon much nicer than the 5000k that I have. search this Section I just posted some pics the other day

I've seen it. My question is does anyone know if this will be better than the slim for fogs. That way I won't have to do some work with the capacitors and such.

I recall the non slim original version worked better than the slim for our cars.

I may be wrong but I think you will be fine if you go with the 55W kit rather than the 35W.

This is true, I have the full size and they have been working fine for the last year.

Where did wattage even come up? I'm not being rude but if you read or even looked through the link you'd see that ddmtuning offers two choices. One is the slim kit and the other is the normal, larger size kit. The larger kit was sold out for a while but they just came out with a newer one, revision 2.

I was prepared to do the slim kit for my fogs, but if this new kit works without modifications then i would like to stick with that. that's why i am asking if anyone knows specifically if the larger, normal size kit works well or not, without modifications?

also, 55w is not suggested because of the higher amount of heat in a smaller fog light housing area. most likely it'd be fine for shorter periods of time, but it also washes out the color because it's noticeably brighter.

That's what I figured. Are you using them for fogs??

I'm just going to purchase them and try them out.

Funny that you just asked this question. I ordered the raptor kit this week and installed the driver side a few minutes ago. It works!

I was worried about ordering from them too because it's a hit or miss with other members, and I didn't want to do the capacitor mod either (but, I was prepared to do so).

But, just keep in mind it works for me. I have a Dec 07 build fyi.

Thread bump! OP, have you gotten your non-slim kit yet? I placed my order last week and they were on back order until today.

Someone care to post pics of where they mounted the ballast?

Just give it a shot since they're cheap. If anything, you'll need to add capacitors inline which only $6 from Radio Shack

Mount them on the brake ducts. Thats what I do for all my installs. They are up and out of the way if you ever need to go in to change the bulbs.

Cool, thanks for the tip... Did you use the sticky pads they included with the kit or did you use a bracket (and screws) of some kind?
