Detailing query
Hi all - my 330 approaches its 5th year and has accumulated its share of blemishes, swirls, scratches etc. and it's time I gave it some TLC. When purchased I opted for paint protection (what with the harsh WA climate) so if I use a cutting agent, will this remove the protection element? I'm thinking that as i'm polishing afterwards then i'm reapplying the protection anyway? My local auto shop carries the Maguires range among others. As the car now spends a lot of time in the sun I want to protect it the best I can.

Hate to break it to you but as far as I know, the paint protection is just a coat of artificial sealant which may last up to 6-12 months. You can do this yourself for about $50 outlay.
waxit.com sells everything you need and you could start by giving it a cut & polish with a random orbital then a coat of sealant and wax (optional) which will restore your paint to near new and protect it from the elements.. Meguiars offer some good items, but they are still just 'weekender' products and some of the more professional brands are a lot better. |
