Iphone wireless music in e90
Well, i'm not sure how may posts have been made discussing the use of connecting a music source wirelessly through the aux input in the centre console..... So I'll keep it brief.
I have an iPhone 3gs that connects to a Sony Ericsson MBR - 100, which is an A2DP receiver, very small and easily fit in the glove compartment ( about the size of your thumb ), the MBR-100 is connected to a charger that powered throught the cigarette lighter also in the centre console so............ In a nutshell I can play music through the aux input setting on the idrive through my iPhone whilst holding it in my hand wirelessly, whats better, is bleeps through the stereo when you have an email / text. MBR - 100 40/50 quid, i got mine form hong kong via ebay for 30. Car charger for it, 2.99 ebay !! PS, the sound quality really is great, as reviewed several times from various online retailers. Downside, if you use the bluetooth connection for you mobile it does take while (10mins) to calm down as its trying to connect to 2 sources at the same time and struggles, but once its happy, its a great way to listen to musc in the car. Any comments on my posts would be good, as its 1am on a sunday, the missus is in bed and i've had a few lagers............ grammer etc ??? Thanks Daniel.

So how does the phone work when you have music connected through A2DP. Is the music playback interrupted and the phone audio connected as you get in a wired setup.

I'm sorry, my question was not clear. What I meant to ask was, if you have the phone connected to the car's bluetooth module, can you simultaneously connect to the A2DP adapter. If so will the iPhone stop the A2DP streaming and activate the cars bluetooth speakerphone, or would you have to stop the iPhone connecting to the car's bluetooth and do it all through the AUX input (including call handling).

well. prob the most important question to ask in my mind.
You get in the car, let the standard bluetooth recognise your phone, the after 5-10 mins, active the the A2DP in the iPhone and both will work in harmony just fine. sometimes they play up, but the fact that they play up initially, doeasen't really bug me, as you can charge in the standard bmw cradle but be connect to aux input wirelessly at the same time. I did a lot of research into this, it works great. sony ericsson mbr-100 is the way to go.

Thats very helpful. This does indeed sound like a fantastic solution. My wife's X5 does not have the USB connectivity, and therefore its a real pain connecting the iphone for music and charging it in the cradle. I was looking into some aftermarket modules that can connect the iPhone such that it can be controlled through iDrive, but they were not cheap (£300+) and need professional installation (more cost). So your solution seems to be the best option at the moment. The only disadvantages that i can see are the 5 min wait so that both the car's bluetooth and the A2DP connect and the fact that you cannot control the iPhone through iDrive. For a saving of about £400 I think I can live with both shortcomings. thanks again very helpful.
