iDrive Scroll Speed - updated
On my 57 plate 335d, you could spin the iDrive wheel to scroll through iPod artists, albums etc pretty quickly. Sometimes took a while for the display to catch up, but not too long.
On the 57 plate M3, it is incredibly slow - it took me nearly 5 junctions on the M25 this morning to scroll through song names from A to G and was getting w4nker's cramp. It's the same nav system in both cars... Anybody experienced this? Any fixes?

I think I have.
My 330i(06) had that stupid 'feel' feedback system which effectively 'stopped' the wheel turning when you reached the screen edge rather than the end of a listing. To continue down you had to force the wheel againts this 'feedback' and it would be very hard to keep scrolling down, with the wheel jumping as you turned it. A loan 3er (56) I used did not do this although it had the same i drive. I think its a bug, but the dealers just looked at me like a wierdo when I mentioned it. The new LCI i -drive wheel has no feedback and you can spin down through lists as fast as you like. |

I know Doughboy will disagree ![]() As soon as I plugged in the ipod it was quick again. If you are using a USB stick, try plugging an ipod instead (you will need the Y-lead) and see if that is any quicker? If you are using an ipod I gather you are using the 'Y' lead? |

I've recently had an ipod kit fitted and I get exactly this, I presumed it to be normal. Can anyone confirm whether it is indeed resolved by a software update? Not sure whther this is the exact same issue Ed recently had resolved. |

Thats how the old systems worked Zaytar, I think it was changed form 2007 onwards where they then would spin freely around without resistance
