Devastating news!!! From dealer
So my lease is coming up in April! Went to BMW to negotiate a new car; found the car I wanted and got a great offer on a 335i loaded M sport package, premium pk, navi u name it it has it. This was yesterday, bad news came today because my credit took a hit with the economy being so bad. So they said I fell below the credit line they have. Mind you with me being unemployed for a little over a year I still made all my lease payments. I finally got a new job but now I need a car to get to work and this happens! The salesperson at BMW said he will contact the big bosses tomorrow to see what he can do. My dad has an 800 credit score but I don't want to put that burden on him, since I got my last lease under my name. Don't know what to do but I'm very sad, went to sleep just dreaming about that car.... Don't know what to do going crazy

I wish you the very best of luck, everyone should have the opportunity to drive a BMW. And may the "big bosses" have mercy on your soul.

Sounds like you should probably get into something a little less burdensome on your wallet. I would also check your credit report to see where your score is coming from to make sure theres nothing on there you should work out and resolve.

I check mine every 4 months....also did it before buying my car. You can get a free copy of your credit report from annualcreditreport.com

+1. But why not wait until April when your lease is up? Your credit could change by then. Not sure I understand the urgency when clearly it's not the best time for you to be leasing a $50k car.

If they bump your payment up because of your credit you should put your dad on the lease unless you have the reason to believe that you will not be able to make payments and screw up his credit that way, in that case you shouldn't cruising around in a 50K car to begin with.

I live within my means and paid my car note even in the bad times. Just so happen that I lost my job and it was not easy but I'm back on my two feet; it can happen to anybody trust me I'm a 8 year army vet including a tour in Iraq with a college degree. Things just happen. But my score should be up there in three or four months so I'll be ready anyways. Let's see what they say tomorrow

As a heads-up, if BMW's "big bosses" let you get the car, they likely will charge you a significantly higher interest rate.
I'm sorry you weren't aware of your credit rating, and that you are so disappointed now... That's tough to fall from that "high". Check it out now, make sure everything is in order, and then work on improving it. Check your credit rating at least every year. So, you either have to get your dad to co-sign the loan or purchase a less expensive car. Although your credit rating/ recent job may be an issue for other car manufacturers as well.

Am I the only one that would live beyond my means to drive a Bimmer?
My bank account is sound now, but If anything were to go wrong.. I would be hard pressed to give up my car/buy something else. I feel like now that I've driven 2 bmw's I can no longer settle for anything less.... Its motivation I suppose. Good luck to you OP!! Hope you can get your self in that Bimmer. Me personally? Id do whatever it takes haha |

^ +1 cars mean a lot more to me than they do to most people so i would make sacrifices to have the car that i want to be driving. A BMW is more than just a car for some people and im sure there a others out there too that feel like they are not living if they have to drive something that has nothing to give back.

Belive me! My bank account will be sound and I will be driving that car! It's like you said why settle for anything but the best. I've worked my ass off all my life; let alone put my life on the line for a year in Iraq... Just have to get it done

Dude who is talking about a mortgage! Anyone in their right mind would not pick a car over your house or apartment for that matter. If it doesn't happen now then it will be at a later time no big deal...
