Rear camera installation

Hi....wondering if anyone from Australia has installed any of those multimedia devives to enable rear camera installation on the idrive system?

I have bought one from america (www.alekshop.com) and it basicly has a plug and play assembly however i am hesitant to install it until I get confirmation that the wirring harness at the back of our navigation/radio unit is the same as that of BMW's in america? the actuall PnP harness which connects at the back of the radio is the same but I am worried that the wirring in the harness is different.

If anyone has installed one of these I would appreciate feedback etc.

yeap all done...works perfect! Also installed a front camera just because I could since I had a number of AV inputs available.

When you put the car in reverse rear camera image comes up. You can toggle between the PDC and camera by holding down the arrow on the stearing wheel.

When moving forward i can toggle between the AV inputs by holding down the MENU buttom. I have the front camera come up if I do so. You can then return to Idrive by pressing menu or any other idrive button.

Will put up pics soon.

cant remember exactly but all up around $600-700 AUS for both the multimedia unit and the rear camera. In any case you can check yourself the products and the DIY instructions.

you can by the multimedia interfaces and camera from

http://alekshop.com/
or
http://modmynav.com/

both multimedia interfaces look identical. i bought the camera from modmynav.com because its part of the boot unlock mechanism which is more OEM rather than number plate light harness.
