Exclamation Driving stick gas efficiency techniques

My questions:
1. What rpm do you shift at for each gear for normal efficient street driving?
2. On the highway, what RPM do you cruise at? Doesn't it take more gas if you need to do mild acceleration if you're at 2.2k RPM vs 2.9k RPM?
3. What RPM do you cruise at on city streets?

Any techniques you use to save gas?

The average answer would probably be between 2500-3000.

pay attention to load, or how much you have to press the throttle. you can be at low rpm, but still sucking up gas if you have to give it a lot of throttle (like going up a hill). in some situations, a higher rpm will be at less load, and be more efficient.

non-turbo sedans have a MPG gauge, and its really interesting to watch which situations kill you mileage and which ones don't. It seems as if it's almost entirely related to throttle position, and less so on rpm.

To achieve highest mpg is to..
1. Accelerate slowly ie. drive like a grandma
2. Stay at low RPM ie. stay at highest gear no matter what
3. Dont brake much because you don't have to speed up again ie. turn like a F1 car.
4. Disregard #3 unless you want no mpg at all ie. Crashing from not braking.

Yea, I'm normally a little over 2k when cruising in the city.
