giving up 335 who wants to take over order?

Hi guys, I ordered a 335i six weeks ago and it arrived this weekend, my situation had changed so I really don't need this car anymore. anybody interested call me and leave message at 978-380-0989. I did not take this car yet but I feel bad to the person I have worked with getting this car here. I would hate to tell him the bad news but if I found a buyer right away I won't have to feel so bad. here are the details

exterior, alpine white
interior: red interior leather with black trims
brushed aluminum trim
six speed manual
Navigation
premium package

as you could see its an awesome combination.. you guys don't have to wait six to eight weeks like I did. its here. I need to know this week. this car is located in southern CA. for people not from socal. Im sure the dealer near you could work something out. thanks

I hate to tell you this, but he dealer is going to have a hard time finding a buyer for your car and they will be none too pleased if you cancel.

First of all, dealers don't ordinarily order MT cars because according to them, there are only a small number of customers (like me) who want manual anymore. And that means that the chances of someone wanting manual AND an unusual color/option combo like yours is VERY small. I mean, red leather and no sport package?

I could be wrong though. Let us know how it turned out.

I didn't think that was the case, I was under the impression that dealerships request non-refundable deposits when they are ordering cars that would be difficult to sell if the order fell through. I know I did not have to give such for my 335i coupe 6MT. What I find odd is that a buyer would try to find someone to take over their order? I would prefer to deal with the dealership, not an individual, that's weird.

if you must know, I already have a couple fast cars. as you see my profile, I have an evo8 thats close to 400whp and a k20a hatch that does 1/4 @12.5 all motor daily driven. I also own a crv as a grocery getter and a 06 honda van for the family. As you could see I have enough wheels. Most importantly two of my kids go to private school and my youngest kid (which will turn 3) will also go to private school real soon. I feel my third kid going to school is more important to me than just another car. I could always get that car later. Plus the nissan skyline, evo 10, and toyota supra is just around the corner. if I can't unload the 335i I guess I will be adding another set of wheels in my driveway.

I ordered the same car in SoCal last week except added the requisite sport package. Any way this will show up on my dealers radar?

When your car gets to production you'll get a VIN number. That wont be the same as the posters.

Gosh, you fellas act as if you are on a BMW blacklist if you back out of an order. Maybe try another factory next time, Regensburg is out! j/k

I don't see the big deal, you don't want the car, provided there's nothing strange about it, someone who doesn't feel like waiting will snatch it up probably at a higher price than was negotiated by someone who is waiting 6+ wks.

I'm sure your CA will have little problem selling this car...ESPECIALLY because it is a manual...a lot more people would buy manuals if they were on the lot...your CA will probably make more $ off the deal too...if indeed he is the one to sell it.

OP created this thread not to discuss the merits of whether he should or shouldn't take delivery of the car, nor his reasons behind doing it. He's simply asking if there's anyone out there interested in taking over the order, so keep it on-topic. Thanks.

The answer is obvious, isn't it? No. But this thread is comprised of people's reaction to the proposition. It's no win to say the least...

hey guys, I am not trying to sell this car since I did not take it off the lot. I do have a conscious.. If I was the sales person I surely would be bumbed out because a customer backed down. I know this car would sell because its a hot product out and hard to get. I would just feel better that i know I took care of all parties, the seller, buyer and my self. if no takers by the time I get back I guess I will be taking pictures and showing it off here.

Sport pkg imho is a no-brainer at $1k. w/o the 335i looks like a 328 due to the smaller wheels. Also, top speed is ~ 25 mph higher with sport pkg. Most that I have seen have it, so yes, probably more difficult to sell. Probably non-refundable deposit on that one....

Aren't the tire and wheel sizes the same for the 328i and 335i in both the base and sport packages?

all 335 has the same suspension which is the sport. I did not get sport because I was going to change the rim/tire combo anyway. why get the sport when i will be doing that change. who wants to keep stock rims anyway when you could get so many better rims and tire combo. Trust my I looked into the future on what I was going to do and as what the majority of people that will purchase this car and do to it, I figure 3% will mode it.

Sport seats are a key part of the sport package. Plus it necessitates paddle shifters if a steptronic. Since most 335's have the sport package, not having it will be undesirable for many. My guess is a dealership may want a non-refundable deposit when ordering a car w/o sport package. Why? Because the actual vehicle will go from a situation where someone will pay list on the spot to avoid waiting, to having 3/4 people not wanting it. my .02
