Crappy Tire sale: Torque Wrench
Hey folks,
Looks like CT is having a sale on their Torque Wrenches.... http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows...252BWrench.jsp Just wondering, do we need a 1/2" or a 3/8" drive? Also, does anyone know what size of a socket attachment do I need for the lugs? Thanks! -Rick |

If you are going to use a wrench for the wheels you may also want to get an extension for the wrench since otherwise the wrench ends up pretty close or even rubbing the bodywork.

I didn't have an issues with it, did my winter swap just fine and I'm pretty sure it will swap my summers over in the coming weeks also just fine. Also for what it's worth, my neighbor down the street works for snap-on and we compared this $19 one against a $500 snap-on model he has and the $19 was within 2% accuracy which is pretty damn good. |

Why does it matter how long it is? Longer = less effort required, no? Why would you want a *shorter* wrench for something as "effort-y" as wheel lugs?

I've got a shorter and older torque wrench and I rarely use it because it requires more effort.

Right, laws of physics ARE logical - some posters above were complaining that it's "too" long, which seems counterintuitive today
Btw, don't forget that until Mar 4th, you get a limited-edition Canadian Tire coin when you spend over $25

This is something I will use 2-3 times a year at track events, so an 18" one (which is what I have been using at the track) will work fine. I had no issue torquing with an 18" one, and the 27" one looks like it could do damage to your fenders if you slipped...

This is a very good point. I should look and see what's up with that - I bought it but didn't actually measure it up to the car yet.

It can touch the body towards the top of the wheel well when working on the rear wheels but I can control how close I want to get. I've not had any problems with slipping.
