Newb advice
I have always detailed my cars with over the counter products that you find at places like Advanced Auto etc. I usually used Meguiars 3 step process or Zymol wax applied by hand. The car would come out glossy (for a couple weeks) but never get out the swirl marks and the glossy finish would just not last. Anyway, looking to step it up a little and buy some new stuff. I saw Detailed Image is running a nice special and decided to buy all of my stuff from them. I have a Sparkling Graphite e90 sedan (3 months old but lots of swirls from car washes and salt).
Anyway looking at the following: Please feel free to comment/make recommendations Porter Cable 7424xp Menzerna SIP Menzerna P085d Mezerna FMJ Is this the right combo? and if so what color pads? Thanks in advance

I would get the hydrotec cyan and tangerine
cyan for deeper scratches or if it takes multiple passes of SIP on tangerine, just go at it with more aggressive pad. then tangerine with SIP, followed by 85rd on black pad/blue pad (blue is more mild, but both black and blue are pretty mild) If you plan on just doing your own, get the hydrotec pads and a black pad or two. if you plan on doing other cars as well for people, then get the classic line up - orange, white, black, blue as well. you will need more cutting pads than finishing pads by the way. |
