Why Am I Waiting So Long?

So I ordered my SG 335i on OCT 6th and according to BMW's order tracker it STILL not even on the production line! Whats up with that? is anybody else waiting this long? I mean, 3 months! I know it's worth the wait, but it's killing me.
Somebody tell me i'm not the only one.

It all depends on your dealers allocated spots for each month's production. If they didn't have any spots open close to when you ordered then your production gets pushed out to the first available slot. Call the 800 number and talk to a live person, they should be able to tell you what week you are slated for production. Your dealer can tell you this as well.

You're definitely not the only one. I ordered mine on Oct. 16, and I just got an e-mail from my sales guy yesterday, and he said production should start soon . The wait is killing me, but I got e90post.com to keep me occupied.

BMW OC is notoriously slow. As suggested, I'd call the 1-800# for automated info or speak to a live rep. They should be able to give you more timely advice/update. All esle fails, hound your CA for up-to-minute info off his DCS system. My CA gave me weekly updates, I'd request for them as well. GL.

My production number was associated with another dealership, a different colored car, and totally different options.
So the Rep at BMW NA told me to call them back and find out the right number.

That's very weird. I ordered mine from Puerto Rico on Oct 18th and is on the Liberty arriving tomorrow to NJ.

Delivery date will be around Thanksgiving week or so.

Call your CA, put him to work!

I'm just curious, did the salesperson make that clear when you "ordered?" What I'm learning is when we make the deal with the dealership means nothing, but I wouldn't have known that in retrospect. I made the deal on 10/7 and the salesperson said your order number is 66xxxxx.......so that means they modified a current order. Thank goodness for me, another dealer with a better price said they couldn't take my order for another 5 weeks (actually, that meant that today they still wouldn't have placed it). So what I can't understand is why dealers would accept an order when they have no ability to put it into the system? The one that told me 5 weeks did the right thing, which allowed me to get the order immediately elsewhere. Why wait??

It isn't weird that is from a different dealer/color/etc. What that means is that your dealer swapped cars with another dealer. When i ordered my 335i coupe, it showed up as incorrect color/options for 2 days because my dealer modified an existing order he had placed (this is before the cars were actually being produced).

I ordered the car at a Westlake dealership, which is an affluent park of L.A. metro. Every 335i in the area was allocated and there were order stacking up. He said that my car will be put into production on the 17th, that I am third in line now. So, we'll see what happens. Anymore lag and i might just start calling around.
I am normaly pretty patient, but i'm starting to see them around, and that bugs me. I want it to be rare for a little while.
