Production week 52 or 50 any difference?
Hi people,
So i just received my production date for my Alpine White on Coral Red 335i e92. It is set in production week 52. Which is basically the last week of December. My delivery date is set for the 3rd week of January. So my question is, is this possible that even though my car is set to be produced in the last week of December? Basically a car that is being built in December whether production week 50,51 or 52 are they all "shipped" at the same time? Do they ship all same month productions together at the end of the production month or do they ship them for example at the end of production week... I am worried now that i was notified my car will be produced in the last week of December that it will not arrive in the time frame given to me by my dealer which is the 3rd week of January. Is it possible that it even might come in Febuary... |

So I guess that they do not ship all same month productions together??!!
I will have a talk with my dealer because there's no way i am waiting till febuary!!! Might as well wait an extra month and get a convertible!!! I ordered the car 3 weeks ago. And the fact that i had to wait until January was already an issue. Now Febuary is just not going to cut it! |

I just hung up the phone with my salesman and he just told me that all Canadian productions of 335i e92's for December production are slated for week 52.
And he confirmed that i will be receiving it at the end of January... |

Hi youyou,
If you order an E93, you will probably have to wait a little bit longer. to give your dealer the benefit of the doubt, here's a little help .. #1: Make sure that he puts a Priority One on your car, when it gets to Canada, that they put a RUSH (Yes they have a sticker they an get whoever to put on the car) on it. Production was week 39; completed 09/25/06 Loaded on ship - Bremerhaven: 10/05/06 on the Mignon Got to Halifax: 10/17/06 *Rotted in Halifax for a whole week before being loaded on train *Arrived at CN Yard: 10/28/06 Arrived at BMW Center 10/31/06 Picked up: 11/02/06 *In Red are the places where you can make up time ; become best friends with your CA & the sales manager or be in their shorts Imagine my car landed in Canada on the October 17; & Cars4Lyfe car got to New York on the October 19 & he was in his car on the 21st. |

Mine was a week 44 and started production on 10/24. Supposedly it's still in final assembly, although the VRU on the 800# says something like port of exit. OC says scheduled for production. Things seem to be running slowly as I thought a car is finished in 8 business days. I'm hoping to get it maybe 12/9'ish, but it's anyone's guess.....

Thank you for the useful info... I know my salesman very well and i'm good as well with the GM. I am going into the dealership tomorrow to pick a 323i that they are loaning me until my car arrives and will definitely point out the facts that you have just showed me and make them put a rush on my car... |

If you're very very lucky, you might get it before end of January. Chances are it will arrive early Feb though.
From what I've gathered, under normal circumstances the time range for each step is: In Production: 5-7 days Factory to ship: 2-10 days Ship to port: 10-14 days to east coast, 22-26 days to west coast Port to VPC: 1 day At the VPC: 2-7 days VPC to dealer: 1-3 days Dealer prep: 0-1 day Add a couple of days for Sundays/holidays Best case would be: 5+2+10+1+2+1+0+2= 23 days from start of production Bad case would be: 7+10+14+1+7+3+1+2= 45 days from start of production Most likely if will fall somewhere in between. Note: If a car is damaged in transit or there's a "campaign" that requires updates at the VPC, it can get held-up in the VPC longer than the above. If you live in the middle of the continent, it can take longer to get to your dealer too. Unfortunately, the dealer can't do much of anything to speed up a delivery once a car has started production. It's pretty much up to fate at that point. Good luck! |

Well here's hoping for the best...
I know that last week of January or first week of Febuary might not be much for some but for, after waiting 3 months every extra day is hell... |

I know exactly what you mean youyou. I went in to the dealership here in Germany and received the order confirmation on Oct. 11th. My dealer said that I should count with about 8 weeks till delivery, starting from the point where they sent the fax to BMW. Yesterday I sent a mail asking for a short update and now the dude is telling me that it will be delivered in the third week of Jan. That's almost 6 weeks extra...
You would think that buying a car in the same country without that much special equipment (E91) would be possible in a shorter timeframe then purchasing a car with all the extra's in the US and shipping it there? In the meantime I'm slowly going mad 'cause I am sooooooooooo looking forward to driving my new car. |

Seems like the automated system at the 800 number is more up-to-date and has changed once again since yesterday, now it says "released to carrier and awaiting transport to port of exit." It did not say released to carrier yesterday, it said awaiting transport.
Being in IT myself, it's quite interesting that a human at the 800 number has different info than the automated system...that's my observation. And of course, as we all know, the OC website is totally off, as that still says scheduled for production! |

Raayman,
That is truly absurd that even in Germany where the car is being built you would have to wait that long... Let me tell you though that i think the wait will be horrible for me. This is my first bmw and to think that i have to wait 3 months to get it is insane... I would think that such a big company would be able to supply cars quicker then that... Especially their bread and butter , the 3 series. Anyhow right now i think i'm spending way too much time on these forums anticipating the arrival of my car and my head will explode. |

I know exactly what you mean. This will also be my first BMW, and I am really looking forward to it. Places like e90post keep me up to speed and are excellent for gathering info in advance, but it also makes the wait harder.

I was always thought that the 2-3 month wait was acceptable considering: - built to order (as opposed to finding the car on another dealer's lot) - breadth of options, many of which are not dealer-installable - psychology; long wait = something to look forward to, short wait = nothing special Waiting (and reading e90post) is half the fun (btw ordered Sep 5, delivery late Dec! Car went into production this week)
