You can retrofit the lumbar support to the standard electric seats - the seat covers come off very easily and it's just the installation of the lordosis pad and the pump underneath.

I could be convinced to do this, lumbar support was an option I wanted, sadly the car I ended up buying doesn't have it. I assume the switch-gear/controller also needs installing. Any idea how much the whole lot is? Also is for driver's side only or drivers and passengers side? As you say it only takes power, I assume no coding is required? |

i found the seats on ebay and even if you only want the lumbar support it may be cheaper to buy seats with them alredy fitted. there is a thread under lumbar support retrofit for an e46 as a guide but the parts i suspect will be expensive, the cost for retrofitting the seat heaters is prohibitive. |

Seemed odd to me at the time as I have full electric sport seats and the blanked hole for the switch is there, but I took the service manager's word for it on the basis that he'd presumably have been happy to take my money were it feasible. I've learnt to live without it, but there are times on long drives when I would dearly love to have a lumbar support, so if you know something the dealer didn't, I'd really appreciate any detailed info you might have - thanks. |

mines done now but it is quite a lot of work dont know the cost of the parts but this can be confirmed by dealer. cost of stripping seat fitting the parts and replacing the seat covering is the big cost and will vary but a competant trimmer can do it
