VBOX
Are there different version of these boxes?
How much they cost? Do you connect to car or are they GPS specific? Do you need to purchase additional sensors? VBOX can measure the following parameters: Velocity Longitudinal acceleration Distance Vertical velocity Time Radius of turn Position Circuit position Heading Track layout Height Lap time Lateral acceleration Any more measures? Will a VBOX calculate HP and TQ? If so, any need for a DYNO?

There is Driftbox and Performancebox. I went with the latter one.

Checked out the website, but didn't know which one fit the bill for our cars.
I'm looking to get 0-60 times, HP, TQ; things like that.

GTech is $199 and offers:
Horsepower Torque 60 Ft. Time 1/8th & 1/4 mile 0-60 & 0-100-0mph RPM & Shiftlights Handling Gs Record up to 30 runs 3 precision sensors Why is the VBOX $499 and doesn't offer HP and Torque?

Vbox should not be compared to Gtech, but for those looking for the 0-60 or 1/4 mile ET and Trap, it does that fairly accurate.
To be the most accurate, you need to pay to play, vbox. It depends on how serious you need to get. This whole HP and torque thing is silly, go to a dyno for $75. I dont care which you buy they will all be "estimates". |

Cool.
So you're saying that the Performancebox($499) offers more accurate #'s than the Gtech($199) and offers HP & Torque. I just hate spending $90 every time I do a change to the car to measure those numbers. What other features does the PerformanceBox offers than the the Gtech? Which Vbox does Mr. 5 have?

dont worry about at a box to tell you HP and TQ. Use the acceleration times for that, MUCH more accurate.

That's the one. It uses satellites for precision. I have one and it is pretty much dead accurate, verified by me at multiple tracks. It is within .1 and 1mph of the track lights. I was expounding my et and trap to the dude at the ticket booth before he handed me my timeslips.

Thanks. I guess this is the one for me to buy. I was looking at the GTech since is cheaper ($299) with software for data-logging, but you guys convince me that the VBOX is a much better product. Is $499 + shipping the best price to pay online or should I just buy it on eBay VBOX for $449?
You guys have any other site for lest price?

I made and shared a spreadsheet that lets you use the acceleration data, weight, Cd, & frontal area to plot fairly accurate dynos. They just tend to read almost 10% lower than dynojet so it's not an ego booster...
