Post SMG Auto Transmission Response From a Stop

I just picked up an 07 auto transmission equipped E92 and had a quick question.

I've noticed when driving around town in stop and go traffic, and block to block between intersections that it feels like it takes a second for the transmission to engage fully when slightly pressing the accelerator.

I *think* it is supposed to do that to smooth out starts from a dead stop and make the ride nicer, but I'm not sure. It takes a bit to get used to coming from manual transmissions, or compared to cheap auto transmissions that just punch in.

Anyone else with an auto tranny care to chime in?

Nope. Perhaps a DCT but not in the 07 production year and certainly not here in the U.S.

my bad guys. Thought the auto was called the SMG, and the DCT was the better dual clutch 7 spd trans in the M3 and 2010 335i...

I would not think the DCT has the same designation as the ZF-step (which seems to be what this TIS is for - 6hp19)
