Do I need a new tyre?

Plenty life in it yet, but just spotted what I'd describe as a small gash. What do you think?

spray some soapy water on it, see if it bubbles, if yes- you need new tyre
if no - still bit risky

Hmm, 6mm. That means its below the surface of the groves at the side. Will get a couple of opinions today.

Ah, that is quite deep. Are these run flats?

I'm not an expert in tyre geometry, but would think that this on one of the thickest parts of the tyre (especially with a reinforced sidewall)

Edit: Just found this

Cheers Ed.

Two 'opinion's this morning, one stealer, one kwik fit, both were like 'Should be alright'. Given they usually err very much on the side of caution and it is right by the sidewall, going to leave it be. At least with an RFT not a diasaster if it goes. (BTW, stealer wanted £270+Vat for a replacement bridgestone! 225/35/19)
