Talking I spent $100,000 dollars

on Ford stock when it was at $1.26 in November 2008 and now its worth $1,050,000 today. Thats over a million less than two years later. The stock price increased 10.5x and then I woke up. So I didnt invest that much but there has to be similar stories about there.

Near the bottom, I was buying BAC at ~$3 a share and turning around and selling front month $2 calls for $1.30 apiece. If I recall, I moved something like 300,000 shares/3,000 calls. Still doesn't make up for some of the losses I had.

Speaking of $$. I just rolled over my old 401k into IRA but i have no idea what to do with that now. Can someone point me in a direction where i can learn about it. I can't really find anything useful on the Googles.

You only need one of those mini rulers for me. My ass is a broke student. The money was whatever was left from a trust fund type deal my grand parents had put 1k in 25 years prior. Hit 15k by ~20yrs old which was nice, once I turned 21 it was down to ~3k. So only $3k worth of GE at $6 a share.

I trippled my money. I'm still a broke ass.

how about 30k in C when it dipped below $1 and then sell when it went up to 8?

or 50k in BAC when it was about $4, and sell at 17?

How ELSE does a 21 yr old buy a 335i vert fully loaded and spend $$$ on mods?
and pay for a gf?
and look at condos and houses for investments?

and my dad said don't do stocks... :P

then again, i DID lose a lot on the C/JPM/BAC when they were priceeyyy

also I lost a lot when WaMu died...
but hey you live and learn and lose and then go back up :P

I sold my Ford at $5
i thought i was plenty lol

They do well for themselves. Helping me with the first year of grad school. I worked the year between college and grad school to pay for the car, if thats what your getting at. I plan on taking out loans for the rest of school because I don't want my education to substantially affect their finances so close to retirement and the market collapse.

Didn't mean that in a bad way, btw. You sound very responsible for investing the $3,000 rather than spending it and considering your parents finances.

I wanted to buy some Ford and GM stock but no money. Things that go down must come up. Just like the DOW. It was crazy how it went to sub-6000 and now it's at about 11,000 or so (IIRC). That just means that stocks have been going up and up. Like Warren Buffet's motto- buy low and sell high.

May I ask what made you hold onto it for so long?

It's hard to hold a stock after one's profit has been multiplied several
folds.

Is it because you trusted ford? Or that you weren't tracking it?

I'm very eager to learn from a millionaire
