How best to protect coat of the car from sandstorm?

The weather today is horrid. Even by the pollution standards of Hong Kong, I have seldom seen this type of poor visibility. And this is not just the the normal grey smog from Mainland factories. This is yellow, which means sand, which means the sandstorm has arrived from the Mainland. This morning I saw a fine layer of dust on the windscreen. This gets me worry, will this sandstorm damage the coat of the car? And how best to protect it in this weather?

i'm also thinking if it will damage the coating further if you wash the car by just using a wet towel.....

I am also considering what kind of protective coating to put on upon delivery of the new car. I've seen some of the reviews of Glare Professional Polish (mixed reviews, but seems that many people who have used it have good experiences). I notice that the glare.com.hk website lists a service price of about $2,388. I am considering to just buy the polish and to do the job myself (first clay bar, then use orbital polisher to apply 2 coats). Does anyone know where Glare polish can be purchased in Hong Kong?

Also, any recommendations on where to have clear bra installed? I hear film-x may do it, but expensive.

I tried Glare polish on my Mini. For 1 1/2 yrs I only washed with water mixed with Glare cleaner, which purchased separately from Glare shop. Have to use micro fabric cloth to wash the car to prevent scratches. The Glare polish did hold up pretty well, apart from some heavy dirt which was very difficult to remove.

It's quite interesting as the Mini mechanics told me the factory polish can withstand around 2 years of abuse without any polish applied. Let's see with my BMW if it's true.

I would assume the polish of bimmers should last a little while. The problem is, I don't think those guys from Munich anticipated the kind of air pollution we have. If we have more days of record-breaking pollution readings like this, no car polish is going to last too long here.

Gonna hose my car down when I get a chance, sometimes the crap in China makes my blood boil and this is one of them!
