Iphone 3GS + 6FL Connector / 3rd Party Apps

Greetings everyone!

I'm a recent owner of a pre-owned 2008 335i... purchased just this week! Amazing vehicle and I love it. I've been on these forums for a bit since when I started deciding on buying a BMW and have been reading over posts and getting to know this community a bit. Seems like this would be an ideal place for me to post a question that for the life of me I haven't been able to figure out regarding my iPhone.

The car came equipped with the an Audio Input and a USB port. I received the 6FL ipod/usb connector (Y cable). Everything works great on the iPod side! It charges fine, I can see all my albums on the factory stereo, so no problems there.

My only issue is trying to figure out how to play 3rd party apps like dTunes or the Sirius iPhone app and still use the Y cable. Whenever I try to load up, lets say the Sirius app, the iPod player takes over the audio and cuts off the audio for the Sirius app. The phone is jailbroken, so one way I have been able to get around this is to close the iPod process. Then I can run dTunes or Sirius.

Of course I could use the Audio Input portion and leave the USB unplugged. This seems to work as well, and I'd have to control everything from the phone. Though it won't charge.

Would I be missing something? Is there a way to tell the iPhone to stop automatically play from the iPod app?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks alot everyone!

I've always had to kill iPod process before running 3rd party apps. No way around it that I know of...

Thanks for the reply! Thats too bad.

I'm surprised there isn't a Stop/Pause button via factory stereo buttons to tell the iPod to stop playing as it has a forward and reverse.

Yeah, it is a bummer. Pausing/stopping could be useful when using Apps like Navigon - I don't want to listen to music the whole time I am using it.

You can always get a Belkin low-profile 12V adapter, plug the USB connector of the 6FL cable into it (for charging), and use the AUX input for audio.
