Armor All Wheel Protectant making big noise???
I'm not sure if there's a thread on this product already but I was curious to see what you guys know about this. My brother in law told me he saw it on his Mustang Shelby forum. Here's a link with a demo video. http://www.armorall.com/products/vie...dex=wheel_tire

I'm not big on armor all products but what he did with the mud sold me. I'm about to go out and try it out.

looks like a good product though, better than sealants thats for sure, but application might be an issue and I wonder if you can use it on the tires as well since you will more than likely get some on the tire during application. Then what about applying tire dressings on top of that? thing of the past? |

Can't it be sprayed onto an MF or old applicator, then applied to the wheels? I wouldn't even think of spraying that directly on the wheels.

They claim 4 weeks, though I'd be happy with 1 even.

Tell you what guys, I'll do some independent testing.
Look what I found at Autozone! (Ignore the Victoria's Secret bag in the background) ![]() I'll go strip my wheels and give this a go over the next few days using the scientific method. Only going to use the front wheels so that brake dust is even. One wheel will get Armor All and the other will get PB Wheel Sealant. After three days I'll restrip and Give one the Armor All and one silicone. Rear wheels will act as a control even though there is typically less brake dust there. A weighted control. Pics daily! |

well, this has been a good topic so far, I hope a few more of us go out and buy it and come back with some feedback. Armor All usually doesn't have the best products but ya never know these days...

Full of silicone and other disgusting chemicals without a doubt. I bet in a week those chemicals, if still on there, get pretty gross them selves.

First round of pics coming soon. I will say though that the application was a snap. It can only be applied by direct spray, but it's not slippery or anything. Dry spray. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it's packing Teflon.

what does it say about the tires????? can you apply it to them as well? if not, did you mask off the tires before application? try dressing the tires if not and report what happened.
I would love to do the same test on my car...just have to find the time (booked solid til April 8th!) |

Interesting product. I am looking forward to seeing how you make out with it in a week. I pretty much lost faith in ArmorAll products when they made my tires and body moulding turn brown in the rain, but this looks promising.

OK Guys! I've been testing this and to summarize the results, I'm actually very impressed.
Initially it the results looked negative. The wheel with the Armor All had collected more brake dust than the one with the PB Wheel sealant. This is the AA Wheel: Notice, however, the collection of brake dust where I missed with the sprayer. It has some repulsion effect to it. ![]() ![]() ![]() This is the PBWS Wheel: ![]() ![]() So it looks like the Poorboys may be hanging on to the title. Until I took a hose to them. With no sprayer or anything, the water collected all of the brake dust and ran right off the wheel just as you saw in the video. Left behind very little of anything: ![]() ![]() The dark area received no sealant while the light area did. ![]() Here's how the PBWS matched up: ![]() ![]() This AA stuff isn't bad, and it hasn't eaten a hole in my wheel yet so I am ready to call it a success! |
