Key Fob went thru wash....*HELP PLEASE*
Long story short my girlfriend accidentally washed my fob that was in my pocket. My fault for leaving it in my pocket when i went to take a shower, oh well.
Anyways, i let it dry for a few days and went to try to see if it would still work, still starts the car w/o an issue, but will only unlock the doors/trunk after being in the ignition for a drive. when i get out of work i try unlocking and it won't work, but when i get home from driving from work it will lock after taking it out of the ignition. What i'm thinking is that the internal battery is either not holding a charge any more or needs more of a charge what are your experiences with this and is there anything i can do to fix this problem? thanks |

dry it out more, put it in a ziplock bag with uncooked rice for a few days
then drive around with it in the ignition for a while to recharge. i'm guessing you dont have CA

no CA jus the regular fob, it seems to hold a charge for a few minutes after taking it outta ignition after my short (15 min) drive to work, so i'm hoping it just needs to be charged longer also, do these keys have some sort of water damage indicator ala cell phones? If it doesn't start holding a charge i'm going to get it replaced for $50 under my CPO warranty before it expires......(figure $50 is better than the $200+ w/o warranty) |
