Arrow How to add amplifier/subwoofer to Logic7

I've searched and read through multiple threads with no definitive answer on how to add (integrate) an amp/sub combo to the existing logic7 system.

I already have an amplifier and subwoofer that i took out of my last car. what adapter, plug, cables, do i need to get to hook everything up?

Someone please help!

JOE! i was just thinking about you because of the thread asking about an amp for a Type-r sub. i remember you had em in your rsx and they were hard hitters.

When'd you pick up the 335D? enjoying it?

All you need is a LOC. Tap the sub outputs from the L7 amp. You don't need anything else except the rca, power, and ground wires. The knob is nice for faster adjustment but be careful with your gains.

I have a sub/amp from my old car as well and I want to put it in my new 07 335 sedan with nav/logic7.

What is a LOC, what does it do, why is it needed, where do you put it, and how do you install it all ?

I have a HiFonics bxi1608d (1600w) and a AudioQue HDC3 12" .

How can I do this ?
Is there a DIY anywhere. I looked but came up with nothing...

Almost all the DIY on here use a LOC. When you get the LOC there is 4 wires, 2 for each channel. There may also be a ground wire or REM lead. You want to tap the sub outputs of the L7 amp using these 4 wires. Your LOC should come with instructions on which is the left and right, positive and negative wires. Search for "The Ultimate Subwoofer Guide" and follow the diagrams on there to wire your LOC. Match the wires you're LOC instructions give you to the sub outputs listed in the guide (for your car). Go to autozone/pepboys and get something called t-taps. Uses these to splice the wires together.

Btw don't follow that DIY's (you provided) way of wiring the REM lead. Do it right and get it from the HU, it's pin#13. Use the t-taps to splice and run the wire to the trunk. If you get a LOC with a REM trigger you won't need to do this. I already posted a compatible LOC in another thread you asked the same question in but here it is again....http://www.amazon.com/PAC-TRUNKLOC-A...sr=8-1-catcorr

Thanks for the help and clarification fdriller.

Your last statement about getting the REM trigger from the HU won't be necessary if i get the LOC in the link right (since it comes with a REM trigger)?

What's the difference between the LOC and this?

Do i need a low level trigger (LVT)?

That LOC doesn't have adjustable gains or a REM trigger...that's why you see him using a LVT. I don't know how much wattage it can handle but if the OP in the thread you provided used it with no problems then you shouldn't have a problem either. Either way will work. I don't have first hand experience with the LOC I provided you but I know others have used it with success. I have a LOC that has a REM lead but the L7 amp sends too high of a signal for the REM lead on my LOC to use so I ran a REM lead from the HU.

Besides a direct connection to the HU, are there other ways/locations to tap the remote trigger? I've read people connecting it to the fuse box. What issues could arise from doing this?

Nothing but if you're going to run it to the fuse box...which I'm guessing is in the front of the car near the glovebox? Why not run it to the HU? you could also run it to the cigg lighter in the armrest but using this method will only turn your amp on with the 2nd press of the start button because it is switched with the ACC power. And of course the LVT you mentioned earlier.

if you run from the fusebox, make sure to tap the hot (ie feed) side of the fuse, not the load side, so as to not over tax the existing fuse, and then make sure to put your own fuse on for the line you run - say 5a. You should also fuse the wire if you tap pin 13 at the radio, or the cig lighter.

+1 good point. I forgot to mention the fuse part. The other thing is new to me.

The LVT is just another way to run a rem lead, it's either the fuse box, cigg lighter, pin #13 in the back of the HU, or the LVT. I think I got them all.
