Hey guys,

I am having problems with my NEW wipers. I recently got them replaced a month ago while I brought my car in for its normal 1 year servicing. Every time I want to use my wipers it makes this horrible noise because it stuttering against the window. I cleaned the window, cleaned the wipers with rubbing alcohol. Looks like good rubber. Any other ideas how I can resolve the issue? I don't want to schedule an appointment just to replace these wipers if I don't have too.

Yep, the windshield wiper fluid is from Rain X.

regular rain x when it wears down causes skipping like that. it could be your issue.

the reservoir kind might have the same effect.

I just got a winshield wipper error symbol in my car what can the be? the winshield wippers dont work now.

Weird, I mean these are brand new wipers just about a month old. I realized the driver side wipers doesn't have a lock. Pull the wiper arm up, flip the wipers so it faces the sky and it pulls right out.

Yep, it's the Rain-x. The wipers need a lubricant to move smoothly across the windshield. Rain-x works nicely on cheaper cars or older cars where the wipers down work well. This is true for all such products. Rain-x doesn't allow water (the lubricant) to bond significantly to the windshield (water beads up), hence the wipers skid. To make matters worse, if you have the sensor on, it will think there is sufficient water on the windshield, so it will keep wiping and the blade will heat up (from lack of sufficient lubricant) and skid more. the problems compounds.

I am convinced the Rain-x works its way into the microscopic pores of the glass when you apply it, because when I used it on my old e90, I couldn't get the wipers to stop skidding, even after I clayed the glass to try and remove it.

Hey, thanks for the feed back that is good to know. I guess my only option is to empty out the fluid reservoir and get BMW to replace the blades. I knew I should of gotten the $1.50 blue bottle fluid .

Yeah, get some of the flammable BMW stuff. If your car is newer, BMW should fill it for you. The hard thing is going to be getting the Rain-X off the windshield. You might try to at least clay the glass. A glass polish might work better, but not too sure.
